hollywood-bowlThe Hollywood Bowl has announced this summer’s season schedule, which includes a number of film music concerts. On July 7 & 8, the Bowl will host its premiere performance of the live to projection concert for J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek. The Los Angeles Philharmonic will be performing the entire score from J.J. Abrams’ 2009 film composed by Michael Giacchino (UpLostInside OutJurassic World) live-to-picture while the movie is shown in HD on the Bowl’s big screen. David Newman will be conducting the orchestra. Click here to learn more about the concert. On September 2-4, John Williams (Jurassic ParkE.T.Raiders of the Lost Ark) will return to the Hollywood Bowl for a concert featuring his music performed by the LA Philharmonic. He is set to conduct music from his latest score, Star Wars: The Force Awakens and other music he wrote for the Star Wars series. Visit the Bowl’s website for more information. On Thursday, August 25, Bramwell Tovey will conduct Cinematic Sounds, a concert featuring music by film composers, including James Horner‘s Pas de Deux, a double concert, which will be performed by LA Philharmonic and Norwegian brother/sister duo of violinist Mari Samuelsen and cellist Håkon Samuelsen, who commissioned it. In addition, Craig Robinson will host the second edition of  Grammy winner Marcus Miller’s and producer/director Reginald Hudlin’s The Black Movie Soundtrack, which will feature the performance of music from black cinema classics. Click here for more details about the event, which will take place on Wednesday, August 31.
