Two new movies are opening this holiday weekend:

tomorrowlandOpening in most theaters is the mystery adventure Tomorrowland directed by Brad Bird and starring George Clooney, Hugh Laurie, Britt Robertson, Raffey Cassidy, Tim McGraw, Judy Greer, Kathryn Hahn, Keegan Michael-Key and Thomas Robinson. The film’s original music is composed by Michael Giacchino (Star Trek, Up, The IncrediblesLostRatatouille). Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score digitally earlier this week and a CD version will be released on June 2. poltergeistAlso opening wide is the horror thriller Poltergeist directed by Gil Kenan, produced by Sam Raimi and starring Sam Rockwell, Rosemarie DeWitt, Jared Harris and Jane Adams. Marc Streitenfeld (PrometheusAmerican GangsterThe GreyRobin Hood) has composed the film’s original music. aloftOpening in limited release is the indie drama Aloft written and directed by Claudia Llosa and starring Jennifer Connely, Cillian Murphy, Mélanie Laurent, William Shimell, Zen McGrath and Winta McGrath. The film’s original music is composed by Michael Brook (Into the WildThe FighterThe VowThe Perks of Being a Wallflower) has composed the film’s original music. No word on a soundtrack album. Aloft takes place in  two different periods and follows a struggling mother of two young sons who becomes a renowned artist and healer. The drama premiered at last year’s Berlin Film Festival and is being released by Sony Pictures Classics. Visit the official movie website to learn more about the film.

when-marnie-was-thereAlso opening in select theaters is the animated feature When Marnie Was There directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi and featuring the voice talent of Hailee Steinfeld, Kiernan Shipka, Kathy Bates, Ellen Burstyn, Geena Davis, John C. Reilly, Raini Rodriguez and Vanessa Williams. The film’s original music is composed by Takatsugu Muramatsu. Studio Ghibli has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music.
