deutschland-83Reinhold Heil is composing the music for the upcoming SundanceTV event series Deutschland 83. The show is set in the 1980s and follows a 24-year-old East Germany native who is sent to the west as an undercover spy for the Stasi foreign service to gather the secrets of NATO military strategy. The 8-part series is written and created by American journalist and author Anna Winger (This Must Be the Place) and Joerg Winger and stars Jonas Nay, Maria Schrader, Ulrich Noethen, Sylvester Groth, Errol T. Harwood and Sonja Gerhardt. Edward Berger & Samira Radsi are directing the 8-parter and Joerg Winger & Nico Hofmann serve as the executive producers. The series will be the first original German-language drama ever to broadcast on a U.S. TV network. Deutschland 83 is set to premiere in the U.S. on June 17, 2015 on SundanceTV. Heil is also returning to score the second season of TNT’s Legends, which is set to premiere this fall. The composer of such films as Run Lola Run, Cloud Atlas, One Hour Photo and The International has also recently composed the music for Syfy’s Helix. A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music from both seasons of the show will be released this summer by Madison Gate Records and La-La Land Records and is now available for pre-order on Amazon.     Please tell me the name of the music in Deutschland 83 when Stamm meets with his Tischbier outside his hotel when he accompanies his general to a Nato conference. It is very reminiscent of Handel’s Serabande.
