terminator-genisysChristophe Beck has been hired to score the upcoming sci-fi action thriller Terminator: Genisys. The film is directed by Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World, Game of Thrones) and stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke, Jai Courtney, Matt Smith, Lee Byung-hun, Dayo Okeniyi, Courtney B. Vance, Sandrine Holt and J. K. Simmons. The movie is the first part of a planned trilogy. Laeta Kalogridis (Shutter Island) & Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry, My Bloody Valentine) have written the screenplay. David Ellison & Dana Goldberg (World War Z, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, I Am Legend) are producing the Paramount Pictures and Skydance production. Brad Fiedel previously composed the score for James Cameron’s first two films in the series, while Marco Beltrami scored 2003’s Terminator: Rise of the Machines and Danny Elfman composed the music for 2009’s Terminator Salvation. Terminator: Genisys is set to be released on July 1, 2015. For updates on the film, visit the official movie website.

Beck’s upcoming projects also include the animated feature Peanuts and the comedies Get Hard and Hot Tub Time Machine 2.

  1. At least it isn’t Brian Tyler again.

  2. Benson F says:

Might want to change the release date… Just sayin’.

  3. tiago says:

I was really hoping Brian Tyler to return. Beck did a very dull score for Edge of Tomorrow, I hope he doesn’t make the same mistake again.

  4. BobaFett says:

That’s great! I am sincerely happy for him.

  5. Roger says:

    don’t fuck it up Beck.

  6. Marvin says:

Tyler would have been perfect for this!

  7. BB says:

At least it isn’t Hans Zimmer…

  8. Justin Boggan says:

The oversaturation of Zimmer, Beltrami, Desplat, Giacchino, and Drumhell Tyler thankfully didn’t make it to this film.

But I can’t help but shake the nagging feelign that since Beltrami and Beck know each other, and indeed BEck worked on at least one of his scores, the creatively unoriginal producers probably asked Beltrami first but he was either busy or declined and made some composer suggestions…

    • Macejko says:

At least he had the decency to stay the f*ck out of it (a practice I would love to see him use on every movie he’s ever been and will be offered, ever). Seems like we dodged a bullet here.

  9. petremihai says:

I thought the tralier soundtrack sounded a little bit like the one from Edge of tomorrow and surprise, surprise, it`s the same. It`s annoying using the same composers over and over again, OK, they are good, but they use a certain style and it`s boring after a while hearing the same music with just minor differrences in most of these blockbuster movies.

  10. Unathi says:

I think Beck himself deserve it but Beltrami was brilliant from the beginning to the end of the Terminator anyway we l chill the movie at cinemas

  11. Mozart says:

Christophe Beck will no longer score this film. This article is mistaken.

    • Justin Boggan says:

The article is accurate. Is there has been a composer change then a new article will appear; that happens. But please help everybody else out by providing a source to your claim.

      • Mozart says:

You are absolutely right, I apologize for my rudeness.

        • Justin Boggan says:

So, what is the source? A quick Google search doesn’t show anything.

        • Justin Boggan says:

Looks like you’re right. The credit is gone from his agency resume and any news report and key word on his personal website, are gone. Now the only questions are: who is the new composer, and did Beck record anything?

          • tiago says:

It would be cool if there were a bold and unexpected choice, like, for example, Desplat last year scoring Godzilla. But probably will be someone from RC.
