marcelo-zarvosMarcelo Zarvos is reuniting with director Tod Williams on the upcoming horror thriller Cell. The movie is based on the novel of the same title by Stephen King and stars John Cusack, Samuel L. Jackson, Isabelle Fuhrman and Stacy Keach. The film follows a New England artist who is struggling to reunite with his son after a mysterious signal broadcast over the global cell phone network turns humans into mindless vicious animals. Adam Alleca (The Last House on the Left) has written the screenplay. Michael Benaroya (Lawless, Margin Call), Brian Witten (Chernobyl Diaries), Richard Saperstein & Shana Kay (Devil’s Knot, Silent Night) are producing the Benaroya Pictures production. Zarvos has previously scored Williams’ 2004 drama The Door in the Floor. The composer has also composed the music for Benaroya’s 2011 feature The Words. Cell is currently in post-production and is expected to be released in 2015.

The composer is also scoring the CBS drama Extant starring Halle Barry, which currently airs Wednesday nights and the second season of Showtime’s Ray Donovan, which airs Sunday nights. Zarvos also composed the music for Barry Levinson’s drama The Humbling starring Al Pacino, Dianne Wiest, Kyra Sedgwick & Greta Gerwig, which just premiered at the Venice Film Festival. Also coming up for the composer is the comedy drama Adult Beginners (previously entitled Brother’s Keeper) directed by Ross Katz and starring Nick Kroll, Rose Byrne, Bobby Cannavale, Joel McHale & Josh Charles, which is premiering later this month at the Toronto International Film Festival.
