howard-shoreHoward Shore has been chosen to receive the Maestro Award at this year’s Billboard/Hollywood Reporter Film and TV Music Conference, which is being held November 5 and 6 at Universal Studios in Hollywood. The Academy Award-, Golden Globe- and Grammy-winning composer is best known for his music for Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy. He also scored such films as The Silence of the LambsThe AviatorHugoMrs. DoubtfireBigPhiladelphiaThe Departed and Ed Wood. He is currently composing the music for the final installment in The Hobbit series The Battle of Five Armies. He recently also scored Jon Stewart’s directorial debut Rosewater, which will be released this fall and David Cronenberg’s Maps to the Stars, which premiered in May at the Cannes Film Festival.
