johan-johannssonJóhann Jóhannsson is set to score the upcoming drama Theory of Everything. The film is directed by James Marsh (Man on Wire) and stars Eddie Redmayne, Felicity Jones, Charlie Cox, Emily Watson, David Thewlis, Lesley Manville, Simon McBurney, Maxine Peake and Harry Lloyd. The movie centers on the relationship between physicist Stephen Hawking and Jane Wilde, the arts student he fell in love with when he attended Cambridge in the 1960s. Anthony McCarten (Death of a Superhero) has written the screenplay inspired by Jane Hawking’s memoir Traveling to Infinity: My Life With StephenTim Bevan & Eric Fellner (Atonement, Love ActuallyLes MiserablesRush) are producing the Working Title Films production with Lisa Bruce and McCarten. Marsh’s previous two features Project Nim and Shadow Dancer were scored by Dickon Hinchliffe. Theory of Everything is currently in post-production and is expected to premiere later this year.

Jóhannsson whose previous film scoring credits include last year’s critically acclaimed thriller Prisoners also has scored the thriller McCanick starring David Morse and Cory Monteith, which will be released on March 21. The composer’s upcoming projects also includes the indie drama I Am Here. The film is written and directed by Danish filmmaker Anders Morgenthaler (Princess) and stars Kim Basinger as a successful career woman who is told she is infertile. Her attempts to adopt lead her to the criminal work of infant prostitution in Eastern Europe. Jordan Prentice, Peter Stormare,  Sophie Rois and Sebastian Schipper are co-starring. Marie Gade Denessen (Nymphomaniac) and Julie Lind-Holm (The ABCs of Death) are producing the project for Zentropa Entertainment in co-production with One Two Films. I Am Here is targeted for a theatrical release later this year.
