marco-beltramiMarco Beltrami has been tapped to score the upcoming action thriller November Man. The film is directed by Roger Donaldson and stars Pierce Brosnan, Olga Kurylenko, Luke Bracey, Will Patton and Bill Smitrovich. The movie follows an ex-CIA operative who is pitted against his former pupil on a race to find a woman who is hiding from her past and who holds the key to an international conspiracy. Michael Finch (Predators) and Karl Gajdusek (Oblivion, Last Resort) have written the screenplay based on the book There Are No Spies by Bill Granger based on his 13-part November Man series. Beau St. Clair (The Thomas Crown AffairLaws of Attraction) of Irish Dreamtime and Sriram Das (Veronika Decides to Die) of Das Films are producing the project. The project marks the first collaboration between Beltrami and Donaldson. The director has previously worked together with composer including Maurice Jarre (No Way Out), Christopher Young (Species), James Newton Howard & John Frizzell (Dante’s Peak), Trevor Jones (Thirteen Days), Klaus Badelt (The Recruit) and J. Peter Robinson who scored the filmmaker’s most recent features. November Man is currently in post-production and will be released in 2014.

seventh-sonThe composer has also recently recorded his score for the fantasy adventure Seventh Son. The movie is directed by Sergei Bodrov and stars Jeff Bridges, Ben Barnes, Julianne Moore, Alicia Vikander, Kit Harington, Olivia Williams, Antje Traue and Djimon Hounsou. The film is based on Joseph Delaney’s young adult series The Spook’s Apprentice and follows a teen who’s the seventh son of a seventh son, and who learns about wizardry from a forbidding spook. A.R. Rahman and Tuomas Kantelinen were originally scoring the film as reported last year. The Legendary Pictures production is currently set to be released on February 6, 2015 by Universal Pictures.

Also coming up for Beltrami is the drama The Homesman directed by Tommy Lee Jones who also stars in the film alongside Meryl Streep, Hilary Swank, James Spader, Hailee Steinfeld, John Lithgow, and Tim Blake Nelson. The movie follows a man who teams up with a pioneer woman to escort three insane women across the prairie back to civilization. Jones has co-written the screenplay with  Kieran Fitzgerald and Wesley Oliver and is also producing the project with Michael Fitzgerald (The Pledge) for Ithaca Pictures, Peter Brant, and Luc Besson for EuropaCorp. Beltrami has previously collaborated with Jones on the feature The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada and HBO’s The Sunset Limited. The Homesman is expected to premiere in 2014.

Beltrami is also reuniting with Ole Bornedal on the Danish TV series 1864 starring Pilou Asbæk, Jakob Oftebro, Marie Tourell Søderberg, Sidse Babett Knudsen and Søren Malling. The project marks Denmark’s most expensive production in history and is based on two books by Tom Buk-Swienty about the conflict between Denmark and Prussia, which resulted in more than 5,000 Danish deaths and the loss of one-third of Danish territory. Beltrami has previously worked together with Bornedal on the features I Am Dina and his English language Nightwatch remake. The eight-hour miniseries is expected to premiere in 2014.
