Austin Wintory is currently scoring the upcoming supernatural horror thriller Dark Summer. The film is directed by Paul Solet and stars Peter Stormare, Stella Maeve, Grace Phipps, Keir Gilchrist and Maestro Harrel. The movie follows a 17-year-old boy who is placed under house arrest for the summer while his mother is away on business. Mike Le (K-Town web series) has written the script. Ross M. Dinerstein (The Pact, The Divide, Powder Blue) is producing the project for Preferred Film & TV and Jamie Carmichael (Black Book, Splinter) is executive producing for Content Film. The composer has previously collaborated with Solet on the horror thriller Grace, which premiered at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival. Dark Summer is currently in post-production and is expected to premiere in 2014.

strangely-in-loveWintory who received a Grammy Award nomination earlier this year for his music for the video game Journey has also composed the score for the romantic comedy Strangely in Love. The film is directed by Amin Matalqa and stars Jemuel Morris, Michelle Lang, Sean Carrigan and Amanda Plummer. The movie is a modern take on Dostoevky’s White Knights and centers on a naive man-boy who falls in love with a hot-headed blind girl and tries to help win back her heroic lover. Matalqa has co-writtten the screenplay with Matthew Antonelli and is also producing with Ian Nelms, Michelle Lang and Claire Naber. Wintory has previously teamed up with the director on the 2008 Sundance Audience Award winner Captain Abu Raed. No word yet on a release date for Strangely in Love. Also coming up for the composer is the action drama Mercury Plains written and directed by Charles Burmeister (Columbus Day) and starring Scott Eastwood.
