much-ado-about-nothingBellwether Records will release the official soundtrack album for the new film adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing. The album features the film’s original score composed by Joss Whedon who has also written, directed and produced the movie. Film composer Deborah Lurie (Dear John, 9, An Unfinished Life) served as the score’s producer. The soundtrack will be released digitally on June 6, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check out audio clips after the jump. Much Ado About Nothing stars Amy Acker and Alexis Denisof as Beatrice and Benedick, the world’s least likely lovers headed for their inevitable tumble into love. Nathan Fillion, Clark Gregg, Fran Kranz, Reed Diamond, Tom Lenk and Sean Maher are co-starring. The movie premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival and has been picked up by Lionsgate/Roadside Attractions for domestic distribution.     I was as impressed with the soundtrack as much as I was taken aback by the movie. I can honestly say that Whedon’s version of “Much Ado About Nothing” rivals Branagh’s version, which was my top choice.
    The soundtrack doesn’t overpower but enhances the modernesque, posh, quirky and sometimes surreal quality of the film which reaches to your senses and leaves you with a light “I can do anything” itch.
    The movie is a must see, the music a must have for those lazy Mondays as I strive for creativity.
