EMI Music Italy has released a soundtrack album for the Italian comedy drama The Great Beauty (La Grande Bellezza). The album features selections from the film’s original score by Lele Marchitelli, as well as other music from the movie, including classical pieces by Kronos Quartet, John Tavener,  Zbigniew Preisner, Georges Bizet and Henryk Gorecki. The 2-disc soundtrack is now available overseas. No word yet on a domestic release. The Great Beauty is co-written and directed by Paolo Sorrentino (This Must Be the PlaceIl Divo) and stars Toni Servillo, Carlo Verdone, Sabrina Ferilli, Roberto Herlitzka and Isabella Ferrari. The film just premiered at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this week and was also released in several European territories this week. No domestic distribution deal has been announced yet.

        Sorry to differ with you. There are actually several versions of American English depending on what part of the country you’re from. The writer is probably referring to the large amount of slang introduced into US English over the years that the British have not accepted. But the spoken English differs all over the world wherever English is the principal language of a particular country, e.g. Australia, Bahamas, Canada, Scotland, etc., etc. Now if you are talking about the written language, I agree that all English literature should follow acceptable traditions and keep the language relatively sacred and leave all slang aside including that which we all know as cockney in England.

    A most evocative sound track, parts of which almost reduced me to tears.

    Without exception the audience remained seated, during the final long list of acknowledgements, just listening until the music ended.
