johann-johannssonJóhann Jóhannsson is currently recording his score for the upcoming crime drama McCanick. The film is directed by Josh C. Waller (Raze) and stars David Morse, Brandon Routh, Cory Monteith, Cirian Hinds and Mike Vogel. The movie follows a narcotics detective  who gets caught up in a firestorm of paranoia and violence upon learning that a seemingly harmless young criminal has been released from prison. Daniel Noah has written the screenplay and Waller and Morse are executive producing the project with Ehud Bleiberg (The Iceman, The Band’s Visit). Jóhannsson’s previous film credits include last year’s For Ellen starring Paul Dano and Personal Effects starring Michelle Pfeiffer & Ashton Kutcher. The Icelandic composer is also known for his non-film work, which combines classical orchestration with electronic music. McCanick is currently in post-production and is expected to be released later this year.

I can’t wait to see it but I really wish they would change the name of the movie or all they will hear is ‘Didn’t that already come out with Jason Statham?’
