Ennio Morricone is set to score the upcoming animated feature The Cantervile Ghost. The movie is directed by Kim Burden and features the voice talent of Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie. The Memoth Films and Arc Productions project is based on the classic story by Oscar Wilde and is written by Keiron Self and Giles New (That Mitchell And Webb Look). Robert Chandler and Gina Carter (Snow Cake) are producing the movie. Arc Productions has previously been involved in animated films including Gnomeo & Juliet and 9, as well as last year’s family hit film Dolphin Tale. The Canterville Ghost marks Morricone’s first CG-animated film project. No release date has been announced yet for the movie, but it is not expected to be completed before 2014. (via Variety)

As previously reported, the composer also has Giuseppe Tornatore’s The Best Offer starring Geoffrey Rush and Jim Sturgess coming up.

  1. David says:

I thought that Morricone has decided to score only italian films just like Williams is only scoring Spielberg films. This is great news!
