Only one movie is opening in wide release this weekend:

Opening in over 4000 theaters is the final chapter in Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises, starring Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman. The film’s music is composed by Hans Zimmer. Watertower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. For audio clips and the full album details, visit our previous article. The composer and app developer RjDj have created the app The Dark Knight Rises Z+ for iPhone and iPod touch. The app is available in iTunes app store and includes a special “Origins” pack that features an extra 55 minutes of music and allows users to download an exclusive behind-the-scenes discussion with Zimmer and Nolan. Opening in limited release is the documentary The Queen of Versailles directed by Lauren Greenfield about a billionaire couple who live in a 90,000-square-foot mansion inspired by Versailles, built on the success of the time-share industry. Jeff Beal (Appaloosa, HBO’s Rome) has composed the film’s score. A soundtrack album featuring Beal’s music has been released digitally on Lakeshore Records. Also opening in limited release is the French drama The Well-Digger’s Daughter (La fille du puisatier) directed by Daniel Auteuil who also stars in the film alongside Astrid Bergès-Frisbey, Jean-Pierre Darroussin, Sabine Azema, Nicolas Duvauchelle and Kad Merad. The film’s music is composed by Alexandre Desplat. Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album last year when the film opened in France. The album includes Desplat’s score, as well Enrico Caruso’s performance of the song Core ‘Ngrato featured in the movie. Also opening in select cities is the indie romance 30 Beats directed by Alexis Llyod and starring Paz De La Huerta, Lee Pace, Justin Kirk, Thomas Sadoski and Jennifer Tilly. C.C. Adcock is the composer of the film, which follows a group of New Yorkers whose lives interconnect via a string of life-changing sexual encounters during a summer heat wave. No soundtrack album has been announced. Roadside Attractions is distributing the film in the US.
