Steve Jablonsky (Transformers, Battleship) has signed on to score the upcoming crime drama Gangster Squad. The composer is taking over scoring duties from Carter Burwell who has previously been announced as the composer of the film. No word yet on whether any of Burwell’s music will remain in the picture. The movie is directed by Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) and stars Ryan Gosling, Sean Penn, Emma Stone, Josh Brolin, Nick Nolte, Anthony Mackie, Giovanni Ribisi and Michael Pena. The drama produced by Dan Lin (Sherlock Holmes), Kevin McCormick (The Lucky One) and Michael Tadross (Arthur) tells the story of the events surrounding the LAPD’s efforts to take back their nascent city from one of the most dangerous mafia bosses of all time.  Gangster Squad is currently scheduled to be released on September 7, 2012 by Warner Bros. As previously reported, Jablonsky is also reuniting with director Michael Bay on the action comedy Pain & Gain starring Dwayne Johnson and Mark Wahlberg.
