Michael Brook has been tapped to score the upcoming coming-of-age drama The Perks of Being a Wallflower. The film is written and directed by Stephen Chbosky (creator of the cult TV show Jericho) based on his own novel and stars Logan Lerman, Emma Watson, Ezra Miller, Paul Rudd, Kate Walsh, Nina Dobrev, Mae Whitman and Dylan McDermott. The movie follows a 15-year-old introverted freshman who copes with his first love, the suicide of his best friend and his own mental illness. John Malkovich, Lianne Halfon & Russell Smith (Juno, Ghost World, Young Adult) are producing the Summit Entertainment production. The Perks of Being a Wallflower is set to be released on September 14, 2012. To learn more about the film, visit the official movie website.

Brook (Into the Wild, The Fighter, The Vow) also has the indie thriller Kill for Me coming up. The film reunites the composer with director Michael Greenspan following last year’s Adrian Brody-starring drama Wrecked. Kill for Me starring Katie Cassidy, Tracy Spiridakos and Donal Logue centers on two college roommates whose lives take an unexpected and deadly detour. Kyle Mann (Wrecked, Push) is producing the Independent Edge Films production. No word yet on a release date for the film.
