Three new movies are opening in theaters this President’s Day weekend:

Expected to have the best weekend at the box office among the new releases is the superhero action sequel Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance directed by Mark Neveldine & Brian Taylor and starring Nicolas Cage, Idris Elba, Violante Placido, Ciaran Hinds and Christopher Lambert. The film’s score is composed by David Sardy (Zombieland, 21). A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score has been released by Madison Gate Records earlier this week. Also opening wide is the romantic action comedy This Means War directed by McG and starring Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine, Tom Hardy, Angela Bassett and Til Schweiger. the film marks the second collaboration between McG and Christophe Beck who has written the music for the movie. The final wide release of the week is the Studio Ghibli animated feature The Secret World of Arrietty directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi and written by Hayao Miyazaki and Keiko Niw based on Mary Norton’s  children’s book series The Borrowers. The voice talent of the US version of the film includes Bridget Mendler, Will Arnett, Amy Poehler, Carol Burnett and David Henrie. The film’s music is composed by Cecile Corbel. Opening in limited release is the documentary Undefeated directed by Daniel Lindsay and T.J. Martin. The movie chronicles the Manassas Tigers’ 2009 football season, on and off-the-field, as they strive to win the first playoff game in the high school’s 110-year history. The film’s music is composed by Michael Brook (The Fighter, The Vow). No soundtrack album has been announced. The film has been nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Documentary category. Also opening in select cities is the crime thriller Thin Ice directed by Jill Sprecher and starring Greg Kinnear, Alan Arkin, Billy Crudup and Lea Thompson. Jeff Danna (The Boondock Saints, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus) has written the score for the film. No soundtrack album is available.
