In our second part of our fall television music series, we are taking a look at the new and returning shows on The CW:

Among the new shows on the network is the fantasy teen drama The Secret Circle produced by Kevin Williamson (Scream, The Vampire Diaries) and starring Brittany Robertson, Thomas Dekker, Shelley Hennig, Phoebe Tonkin, Jessica Parker Kennedy, Louis Hunter, Natasha Henstridge and Ashley Crow. The composer of the show is John Frizzell (Alien: Resurrection, Dante’s Peak, Office Space) who has worked with Williamson before on the writer’s directorial debut Teaching Mrs. Tingle. The Secret Cirlce has received a full season order and currently airs every Thursday night on the CW. To learn more about the series, visit our previous news article and official show website.

Also new on the network is the drama Ringer created by Eric Charmelo & Nicole Snyder and starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, Nestor Carbonell, Ioann Gruffudd, Kristoffer Polaha and Tara Summers. Gabriel Mann (Modern Family) has scored the first couple of episodes of the show. Mark Snow (The X-Files, Smallville) has recently taken over scoring duties on the show, while Mann’s main theme is still being used. Ringer airs every Tuesday night on the CW and has also received an order for a full season. The third new scripted show on the CW is the dramedy Hart of Dixie created by Leila Gerstein, produced by Josh Schwartz & Stephanie Savage (The O.C., Gossip Girl), Len Goldstein and Jason Ensler (Franklin & Bash) The series stars Rachel Bilson as a New York physician who transplants to a small town in the south. Jaime King, Cress Williams, Wilson Bethel and Scott Porter are co-starring. The composer of the show is Jeremy Adelman who is making his major television scoring debut on the series. Hart of Dixie airs every Monday night on the network. More details about the project are available on the official show website.

The network’s returning shows include The Vampire Diaries, which is scored by Michael Suby (The Butterfly Effect) and Gossip Girl, which features original music by Transcenders. Also still airing on the CW every Friday night is Supernatural with music by Christopher Lennertz and Jay Gruska, as well as Nikita, featuring music by David E. Russo (Dark Blue). The teen drama 90210 is currently scored by Justin Hosford & Robb Willliamson (Gamer). Finally, premiering in January is the ninth and final season of the teen drama One Tree Hill, which features original music by John Nordstrom.
