Four new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:

Jim Sheridan’s horror thriller Dream House starring Daniel Craig, Rachel Weisz and Naomi Watts features an original score by composer John Debney. Varese Sarabande will release a soundtrack CD including Debney’s score on October 11. The album is also already available to download on iTunes. Also opening wide is the comedy drama 50/50 directed by Jonathan Levine and starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Seth Rogen, Anjelica Huston, Anna Kendrick and Bryce Dallas Howard. The score from the movie is composed by Michael Giacchino. No soundtrack album has been announced so far. The movie about a 25-year old guy’s struggle to beat cancer is released by Summit Entertainment. For more information about the film, visit the official movie website.

Opening in most theaters this week is the comedy What’s Your Number? directed by Mark Mylod and starring Anna Faris, Chris Evans, Zachary Quinto and Ryan Phillippe. The final wide release of the week is the drama Courageous directed by Alex Kendrick (Fireproof) and starring Kendrick, Ken Bevel, Kevin Downes, Ben Davies, Robert Amaya and Renee Jewell. Mark Willard has composed the music for the film. Reunion Records will be releasing a soundtrack for the film featuring the title song written by Mark Hall and recorded by Casting Crowns, as well as songs from the films by artists including Third Day, Brandon Heath and Mark Harris. The album will be released on October 18 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Courageous centers on four sheriff’s deputies and each man’s struggle with issues related to fatherhood. Opening in limited release is the indie drama Take Shelter directed by Jeff Nichols and starring Michael Shannon, Jessica Chastain, Shea Whigham, Kathy Baker and Lisa Gay Hamilton. The film’s score is written by David Wingo. Milan Records has released a soundtrack album earlier this week featuring the composer’s score, as well as Ben Nichols’ credit song Shelter. Also opening in select cities is the drama Margaret directed by Kenneth Lonergan and starring Anna Paquin, J. Smith Cameron, Jean Reno, Jeannie Berlin, Allison Janney, Matthew Broderick, Mark Ruffalo and Matt Damon.
