David Torn has recently finished writing the music for the upcoming comedy Jesus Henry Christ alongside co-composer Simon Taufique. The movie starring Michael Sheen and Toni Collette follows a genius boy conceived in a Petri dish and raised by a loving, left-wing feminist. His world is turned upside down when he discovers he has a half sister, leading a trail to his biological father. The film is written and directed by Dennis Lee who made his feature directing debut on 2008’s Fireflies in the Garden, which featured a score by Javier Navarrete. Julia Roberts is producing through her production company Red Om Films. Jesus Henry Christ is set to premiere at this month’s Tribeca Film Festival.

David Torn whose best known film scores include Lars and the Real Girl, Friday Night Lights and The Order also has the indie comedy drama Everything Must Go coming out next month. The film is directed by Dan Rush and stars Will Ferrell, Rebecca Hall, Michael Pena, Christopher Jordan Wallace and Laura Dern. The movie centers on a relapsed alcoholic who loses his job and his wife and decides to live on his front lawn while selling all of his belonging. Everything Must Go premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival where it was picked up Roadside Attractions and Lionsgate. The movie is scheduled to open in limited release on May 6, 2011.
