Elia Cmiral recently recorded his score for the upcoming bestseller adaptation Atlas Shrugged: Part 1. In the movie based on the 1957 novel by Ayn Rand, a powerful railroad executive struggles to keep her business alive while society is crumbling around her. The film directed by Paul Johansson stars Taylor Schilling, Edi Gathegi and Matthew Marsden. According to Elia Cmiral’s official webpage, the score was recorded with a large orchestra. There have been many attempts to bring the novel to the screen for the past decades, including a recent version which had director Vadim Perelman and composer James Horner attached to the project. Q: What could be more boring than 1100 pages of people talking about economics and trains??
A: Watching no-name actors talk about economics and trains for 4 hours.
I surprised this is getting an actual theater release. Looks like straight to DVD material. I doubt Elia’s score could make this drivel interesting.
