Film Music Reporter has learned that composer Alex Heffes has stepped in to co-score Catherine Hardwicke’s Red Riding Hood. He will be scoring the film alongside Brian Reitzell, who was announced as the composer and music supervisor on the film last year as reported here. Reitzell is also producing the songs in the movie. Heffes recently worked for the film’s studio on the recent horror thriller The Rite starring Anthony Hopkins. Watertower Music has already announced a soundtrack album to be released on March 8, 2011. We will be posting an update once more details about the soundtrack become available. The film starring Amanda Seyfried, Gary Oldman, Lukas Haas, Billy Burke and Virginia Madsen will be released on March 11 by Warner Bros. Heffes also has the drama The First Grader coming up. The film is based on the true story of an 84-year-old Kenyan man’s battle to get an education. The movie is directed by Justin Chadwick (The Other Boleyn Girl) and stars Naomie Harris and Oliver Litondo. The First Grader premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival and has been picked up by National Geographic Entertainment for a theatrical release this spring.
