Varese Sarabande has announced the first CD release of John Williams’ score for Alfred Hitchcock’s Family Plot. Only the film’s end credits has previously been released. Hitchcock’s last movie stars Bruce Dern and Barbara Harris centers around a phony psychic/con artist and her taxi driver/private investigator boyfriend who encounter a pair of serial kidnappers while trailing a missing heir in California. The label also announced a soundtrack release of Maurice Jarre’s score for the 1981 movie Taps. The album for the movie directed by Harold Becker and starring Timothy Hutton, Tom Cruise and Sean Penn is limited to 1200 copies. In the movie, military cadets take extreme measures to insure the future of their academy when its existence is threatened by local condo developers. In addition, Varese Sarabande also announced a limited edition release for the complete original soundtrack album of Pino Donaggio’s score the 1981 comedy Home Movies directed by Brian De Palma and starring Kirk Douglas.
