Theodore Shapiro has been hired to score the upcoming comedy Dinner for Schmucks. In the movie, a rising executive succeeds in finding the perfect guest, an IRS employee, for his boss’s monthly event, a so-called “dinner for idiots,” which offers certain advantages to the exec who shows up with the biggest buffoon. The movie stars Steve Carell and Paul Rudd and is directed by Jay Roach (Austin Powers series, Meet the Parents, Meet the Fockers). Paramount Pictures will release the Dinner for Schmucks on July 23.

Shapiro’s music can currently be heard in theaters in the family movie Diary of a Wimpy Kid. The movie directed by Thor Freudenthal has been received with mostly positive reviews and is exceeding box office expectations. Despite featuring a lengthy orchestral score, no score album has been announced so far.
